A while back I grabbed a packet of those thin fries Fysh loves, you know the kind they serve at McDonald’s?
Well we both adore those cheesy fries from steers and wanted some but I don’t want to venture out and also cash, then I remembered the fries in the freezer and decided why not make our own!
I posted a shot on instagram and everyone keeps on asking for the recipe so thought I’d share my twist on them :)
The fries are easy, you pop them in a deep pan with hot oil or a deep fryer if you have one or the oven if you prefer.
The cheese sauce is the part that needs a recipe though, generally I wing it because usually Fysh has eaten most of the cheese and not told me about it… Like today.
But here’s the basic recipe that I work from if you’re the kind of person who needs measurements:
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 cup milk
- 1 1/2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
- salt and ground black pepper to taste (optional)
- Spoon of garam masala (my secret ingredient in almost everything)
Stir fast and well cause it’s lumpy and thickens quickly. Add milk if you need it a little smoother.
